Oil Storage, From Orbit

You can read the oil market off how full the tanks are. You do not need anyone's permission to look.

Storage tells you more than most analysts will. This pulls Sentinel-2 satellite imagery of the major crude hubs and lets you scrub through time to watch the floating roofs rise and fall.

Cushing, Oklahoma — the WTI delivery point, the one hub here anchored to official EIA fill data. Plus China's Zhoushan and Dalian reserves, Saudi Ras Tanura, Rotterdam, and Singapore's Jurong Island. A shadow mode flags the tanks sitting low.

Fill estimates off 10-meter public imagery are approximate and experimental. Treat it as a window on the physical market, not a gauge — and not as a substitute for the official numbers.

Each tank's fill is estimated from its shadow: the sunlit rim casts a shadow onto the sunken roof, and its length + the sun's elevation give the roof depth. Tanks are ringed green→amber→red by estimated fill, with a filling/draining trend.
