Dollars vs Gold — How the World Parks Its Money
Foreign holdings of US Treasury securities by country (live from the US Treasury's TIC data) plotted against gold reserves — showing who's buying or selling US debt and the central-bank rotation into gold. Japan and China are the largest holders; China has been reducing its Treasurys for years while central banks (China, Russia, Turkey, India, Poland) accumulate gold. Includes estimates for China's offshore-custodied Treasurys and underreported gold.
